I'm pleased to share that VideoNuze is collaborating with Broadcasting & Cable / Multichannel News magazines to produce the "Ultimate Guide to TV Everywhere," with a December 3rd publication date.
The 16-page guide will include up-to-date research data and analysis, interviews with industry leaders, case studies and more. It will tackle the questions surrounding TV Everywhere head-on, providing essential insights for busy industry executives. Topics covered will include strategic and business drivers, core technologies, changing viewer behaviors/expectations, business/rights issues and enabling devices.
Remarkably, it's already been over 3 years since TV Everywhere burst on the scene, via a high-profile press conference with Time Warner's CEO Jeff Bewkes and Comcast's Brian Roberts outlining a set of principles to guide TV Everywhere's development. Since then, there have been a number of noteworthy TV Everywhere successes (the London Olympics, HBO GO and WatchESPN come to mind). Yet TV Everywhere is still far from achieving its potential, facing 5 key challenges I began writing about a year ago. And according to one recent study, due to low awareness, only about 10% of pay-TV subscribers currently use TV Everywhere once per month or more.
Still, with a flood of over-the-top programming and services gunning for viewers' attention, powered by a growing array of video-enabled devices, TV Everywhere's strategic role as a value driver for pay-TV subscriptions is more important than ever. Consumers have come to expect seamless, multi-platform access to their favorite content. To the extent that pay-TV operators don't offer this, they're at a competitive disadvantage.
As such, we hope the guide will be a useful resource for industry executives trying to understand and pursue TV Everywhere initiatives. If you're a research firm with updated TV Everywhere data, please get in touch as we might like to include your findings. And if you're in the industry and have had TV Everywhere success, please reach out to us so we can learn more. Finally, there are a few advertising opportunities remaining for this targeted industry guide.
The "Ultimate Guide to TV Everywhere" will be inserted to the Dec. 3rd print editions of B&C/Multichannel News magazines. A printable digital version will be sent to our respective subscribers and will be available for complimentary download from our web sites. The guide will also be distributed at VideoSchmooze on Dec. 5th and at the OnScreen Media Summit on Dec. 6th.
