LONDON – Netflix’s U.K. and Ireland offerings expanded further as the online video streaming giant sealed a deal with Miramax to bring titles such as Pulp Fiction, Chicago and The English Patient to the two countries.
But still the online streaming operator declined to give any indication of its pricing or a hard and fast launch date for the two territory service other than to say Miramax titles would be part of the U.K. and Irish package beginning in early 2012.
Netflix said the Miramax titles – others will include “several of the Scary Movie, Scream and Hellraiser films, giving an indication that selected Dimension Films would be included – will be available for Internet-connected TVs, tablets, game consoles, computers and mobile phones.

Financial terms of the deal are not being disclosed.
Netflix originally officially stated in October this year that it would launch its service in the U.K. early in 2012.
Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos said in a statement: “Netflix is proud to be able to offer the unmatched mix of award-winning, independent and commercially successful films Miramax is known for.”
Netflix already offers Miramax titles to its customer base in the U.S. and Latin America.
Said Sarandos: “We’re sure they’ll [Miramax movies] be incredibly popular in the UK and Ireland as well.”
Miramax CEO Mike Lang added: “This agreement further extends our broader international digital distribution strategy, as we continue to offer consumers around the world our extraordinary collection of Miramax films.”
Other titles in the deal are The Aviator, Bad Santa, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Chocolat, Finding Neverland, Gangs of New York, The Hours, Kate & Leopold, Rounders, Sling Blade and The Talented Mr. Ripley.
Earlier this week, Netflix made official the long-reported deal for content it put in place with Lionsgate for the U.K. and Ireland for titles such as Dirty Dancing and The Blair Witch Project.
