Clearleap, a multiscreen platform provider for pay-TV operators and content owners, has hired Joe Oesterling as its first Chief Operating Officer. Oesterling comes to the company from managed service provider Cbeyond, where he was EVP of Technology and Operations and spent 14 years helping build the company from startup phase to $500 million in annual revenues.
Clearleap's CEO Braxton Jarratt told me that hiring Oesterling was a recognition that the company requires more discipline and experience as it continues to expand globally. One of the key goals is super high availability of its platform, especially as it supports mission-critical multiscreen live and on-demand applications. Braxton cited Oesterling's data center and telecom experience overseeing 10K customers as highly relevant to Clearleap's own operations.
At Clearleap Oesterling will oversee engineering and operations as well as technology recruiting. Clearleap most recently raised a $20 million round of financing in November, 2013 and is targeting to add 150 employees this year. Customers include HBO, Verizon, Time Warner and Scripps Networks, among others.
