Synacor, which provides TV Everywhere and portal solutions to small-and-medium sized pay-TV operators, has partnered with thePlatform to integrate the latter's mpx video management system. Himesh Bhise, Synacor's CEO, told me that the deal furthers the company's goal to be a white label provider of end-to-end managed video solutions, supporting customers who are increasingly exploring a range of new services and business models.
Specifically, Synacor is integrating mpx's multiscreen video workflow, policy management and playback services with its own Startpage, "PowerPlay" search and discovery/metadata platform, Cloud ID authentication and live linear technology from recently-acquired Nimble TV.
Bhise, who joined Synacor last August, said that new video offerings were at a top customer priority and that the company has been working hard to provide the full breadth of technologies needed to fully serve customers.
For thePlatform, the new partnership gives the company access a set of operators who require a greater degree of managed services. Given its focus on the largest operators and TV networks, this is a group thePlatform hasn't focused on. Marty Roberts, thePlatform's co-CEO, noted that more and more companies are currently asking for managed services, so the partnership will help it expand its customer base.
The companies are already jointly engaged with numerous existing and prospective customers about the new joint solution.
